The program year is winding down and it has been quite an exciting one, but we still have some events before we say goodbye to the 2012-2013 year.

Our May units will take consensus on issues relating to local agriculture. We will then gather on Tuesday, May 21st, at Riderwood, for our Annual Meeting, which is a luncheon this year.  I would like to encourage everyone to attend this important event. It is when the LWVMC will choose the topics they want to study in the upcoming year or two.  Your new Board of Directors and next year's budget will also be presented for election and adoption, respectively.  We will also be honoring our new 50-year members.  For more information, check out your Annual Meeting Workbook that you should have received through an e-mail or by regular mail.

Finally, thanks to our Action VP Linda Silversmith and to all of our members who answered our calls to action during the state legislative session.  It was a very successful year for the League. Bills were passed eliminating the death penalty, favoring wind power, and providing money for transportation, among others.  Redistricting did not fly, but there is always next year.

As things wind down, be sure to take time to enjoy the area's beautiful spring bouquet.

Elaine
